Board of Surveying & Spatial Information (BOSSI)

The Board of Surveying & Spatial Information (BOSSI) is the statutory regulatory authority established under the Surveying & Spatial Information Act 2002, with historical roots dating back to 1837. . It governs the standards and integrity of land and mining surveying across New South Wales.

Key Functions:
– Registers land and mining surveyors and maintains the public register

– Sets and enforces professional competency, ethics, and CPD requirements; issues and updates guidelines and determinations

– Investigates complaints and administers disciplinary actions to uphold public trust

– Advises the NSW Government on surveying, spatial information, and cadastre integrity

Governance & Structure:
BOSSI’s Board comprises appointed members—including the Surveyor-General and government representatives—and supports several dedicated committees (CPD, Discipline, Spatial Information, Training, etc.)
